The piano was first invented in Italy in the year 1700 by the famous Bartolomeo Cristofori.
Although why was the piano invented in the first place?
Well similar to other great inventions, the piano was created to make life easier, as it allowed many people to create music much easier as before the invention of the piano there were keyboard instruments although they came with many complications. Those complications include:
Due to the availability of many keyboard instruments, in which only some have dynamic control, it led to the inability to hear the keyboards when a bunch of instruments is being played. Another complication includes, that there was no way of sustaining the notes of these keyboard instruments, and this made quite the difference in slower movements. The third complication was that manufacturers we required to produce harpsichords with two layers. Although when Cristofori came into the picture everything changed, as he managed to solve all of these three complications by producing one instrument that has loud and soft notes, dynamic variety, which he named the pianoforte. The reason behind this name was because in Italian Piano meant soft while Forte meant loud, and since he made this keyboard to play both loud and soft notes in one instrument he named it the pianoforte.
